Introduction
Collecting system logs on Kyocera multifunction printers (MFPs) is essential for troubleshooting and in-depth analysis. These logs provide key information to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. This article explains the procedure to safely collect logs using maintenance mode.
Prerequisites
Technician access to the Kyocera MFP.
USB flash drive with sufficient storage.
Knowledge of the maintenance code and functions (U000, U964).
Ensure no print jobs are running, as this can block access to maintenance mode.
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Accessing Maintenance Mode
Press the Status button on the MFP control panel.
Enter the maintenance code 10871087 using the numeric keypad.
Cancel any ongoing print jobs before entering the code to avoid access issues.
2. Collecting Logs
Insert a USB flash drive into the designated port on the MFP.
In maintenance mode, use the U964 function to transfer internal log files to the USB drive.
The Memory indicator will blink during the transfer and remain lit once the process is complete.
To export raw system logs, the U000 function can be used depending on the type of log needed.
3. Important Considerations
Some models require specific menu navigation using dedicated or programmable keys.
The maintenance code 10871087 is fixed and cannot usually be changed, but user access levels may be configured separately.
Logs collection should be performed carefully to avoid operational errors.
Additional Notes
Only trained technicians should perform these operations.
Log transfer typically takes around three minutes, depending on the volume of data.
Following this procedure ensures reliable and secure collection of Kyocera MFP logs for troubleshooting or analysis.
