The aim of this article is to describe the technical requirements of Gespage Stratus for installation purposes.
Introduction
Gespage Stratus is a SaaS application for managing multifunction printers. It provides features such as secure print release, scan workflows, mobile printing, accounting and print payment.
Gespage Stratus is administered via a web browser.
Architecture
The Gespage Stratus product provides a serverless architecture by hosting the Gespage application in SaaS mode, which is responsible for the following functionalities:
- Gespage Stratus: Gespage manages network and mobile printing logic, user accounts, Web administration and user interfaces, and eTerminals or peripherals.
In addition, the following services must be installed on the local network:
- Gespage Agent: The agent manages Windows or Linux print queues. It can either be installed on each local workstation (in the absence of a local print server), or on a print server.
- Gespage Connector: This service can be installed on a system workstation on your local network, to allow the use of certain Gespage features (see the Gespage Stratus Features article).
Here is the architectural diagram:
Technical requirements
MFPs and printers
The Gespage Stratus server is a Saas solution capable of managing a fleet of up to 20 printers.
eTerminal
To install an eTerminal on your MFP, you must have checked the compatibility of your MFP brand with Gespage Stratus (see Gespage Stratus Features article) and your MFP model with Gespage with your reseller or via our dedicated CartadisDB knowledge base.
The Gespage Stratus eTerminal is only compatible with MFPs implementing a minimum security level:
- Compatible with at least TLS 1.2
- Compatible with at least one of the following encryption suites: AES256-SHA256 ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 ECDHE-ECDSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305 ECDHE-RSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305
Print2me
Print2me virtual print queues are used to enable secure printing. This requires all compatible printers to support a common printer driver.
Print accounting
For print accounting, the Gespage parser enables analysis of spool files. Gespage supports the following print languages:
PostScript
PCL 5/6
XPS.
For other print languages, Gespage relies on information provided by the print spooler (Windows only).
ATTENTION: ERP print flows must be validated beforehand.
User workstations
For use without a print server, the Gespage Agent must be installed on each user workstation, and Print2me virtual print queues and release queues must be installed on each workstation.
In this configuration, the limit is 50 workstations.
The Gespage Agent is compatible with user workstations running on the following OS:
- Windows: Windows 11, Windows 10
- Linux: Debian, Ubuntu
For use with a print server, no user workstation requirements apply.
In all configurations (with or without print server), users are identified by their session login.
Print server (optional)
You don't need a print server to use Gespage Stratus.
However, if you wish to use a print server to share print queues, this is possible. Simply deploy the Gespage Agent on this server.
Gespage Stratus is compatible with the following OS print servers:
- Windows Server: Windows Server 2025, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019,
- Linux Server: Debian 12
- Windows PC (less than 10 workstations): Windows 11, Windows 10
Gespage admin workstation (depending on configuration)
If your configuration requires the Gespage Connector, this service must be installed on a workstation or server on your local network.
The Gespage Connector is compatible with the following OS:
- Windows: Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows 11
- Linux: Debian, Ubuntu
The computer hosting this service must be switched on at all times.
Use of the GespageConnector application must be authorized by your antivirus software.
Network flow
Internet connection speed must be at least 10Mb/s.
MFPs with eTerminal and workstations with Gespage Agent use port 443 to access the Gespage Stratus server (replacing port 7181 used on Gespage On Premise).
When using the Gespage Connector, network flows take place from the workstation hosting it to MFPs with eTerminal (see Gespage Stratus Flows article) and between the Gespage Connector and the Gespage Stratus instance.
Preparing for installation
User accounts
Before starting installation, it is important to define how user accounts will be created.
User creation mode
Users can be created in several ways:
- By synchronization with an LDAP directory (AD, Entra ID, OpenLDAP)
- By CSV import
- By an administrator in the web interface.
- By an end-user in the user interface.
Only in the case of a kiosk configuration do you not need to create an account in Gespage.
LDAP synchronization
Gespage Stratus can synchronize its user database with one or more LDAP directories such as :
- AD
- Entra ID
- OpenLDAP
Specific fields can be defined to be synchronized from the directory (such as card number or print code).
Synchronized accounts are created in the Gespage Stratus user database.
Gespage Stratus accesses the directory only during synchronization or to validate a user password.
CSV import
If no directory is available, users can be created from a CSV file.
The CSV file format must conform to the Gespage standard. The format of this file depends on the parameters to be initialized by the CSV import.
Please contact Gespage support to obtain the file format corresponding to your needs, in order to prepare it before installation.
Gespage mobile
Web printing
Web printing is performed via the user interface of your Gespage Stratus instance.
Email printing
Email printing requires the creation of dedicated mailboxes to receive the documents to be printed (if all printers are compatible, only one mailbox is required).
Mobile app
The Gespage application is available on Android and iOS phones and tablets.
When installing the app, it must be configured to connect to your Gespage Stratus instance.
Payment
Web payment
Opening a merchant account
You must open a merchant account on a Gespage-compatible payment gateway.
Please contact the following organizations to open a merchant account:
- Worldline: https://worldline.com/en/home/solutions/online-payments/wl-online-payments.html
- Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/fr/business
To open a merchant account, you need to sign a banking contract with an acquiring partner. This contract defines the charges invoiced by your bank (% of turnover).
These accounts may take several weeks to open.
Gespage configuration
Web payment is made via the Gespage user interface. Please refer to the dedicated chapter.
